Digital ID Photo Codes: Simplifying Passport Application in the UK
If you haven’t already heard about the revolutionary new digital ID photo codes (IDPC) here’s what you need to know. In the past British citizens could only provide photos stored on their own devices or professional photographers put their photo on a memory stick, CDs or emails.
The new system involves shops or booths being able to offer customers secure codes with their physically printed pictures.
Like identity documentation in general, an ID photo code is unique to each individual citizen. You can see it either printed on your photo template, or a professional photographer gives it to you with your digital or printed photos.
You can use this code during the online application process. Once you have entered the code, you should see your photo appear. Her Majesty’s Passport Office will be still checking each and every photograph to ensure that it meets the specifications. It does not mean that the photo is automatically approved.
Professional photographer acceptance rate is at 98%, for photo booths it is 90%. You can also use Smartphone iD app to get a digital or printed photo with photo code. First, your photo will be verified and approved by a trained expert to assure 100% acceptance rate and then sent to your email or doorstep, whichever your prefer.
