This card allows you to come to France if you have family ties in the country. Additionally, by holding the residence permit “carte de séjour vie privée et familiale” you can legally work in France.
If you are a European citizen or Algerian, other type of residence permit will apply.
The steps to request “carte de séjour vie privée et familiale” if you are a parent of a child with French citizenship
You can receive the residence permit if:
- You are the father or mother of a French minor child residing in France.
- You contribute to child’s maintenance and education since birth (or for at least 2 years).
For this, you must submit your request file at the prefecture or sub-prefecture next to your home.
The list of documents to be provided:
- Your passport;
- Your long-stay visa or your residence permit if you have one for another reason;
- Birth certificate;
- If you are married: extract of marriage certificate;
- French birth certificate of your child under 3 months old;
- Proof of the child’s French nationality;
- Evidence of your contribution to the maintenance and education of your child: proof of purchases (food, clothes, toys, etc.), certificates (accommodation, school monitoring, etc.), proof of the emotional bond (interest in the development of the child, knowledge of his environment, etc.);
- Proof of the child’s residence in France (proof by any means): school or nursery certificate, presence of the child at the time of the request at the prefecture;
- A document that shows proof of address dated less than 3 months
- 3 passport photos
The price of this residence permit is 225 €. However, if you entered without a long-stay visa, you must pay an additional €200 regularization visa fee by fiscal stamps.
After that, if your request is accepted, you are summoned to the prefecture to issue the permit.
Your card is valid for 1 year and is renewable.
